Motor Sport touring BMW tidak dipaksakan didijejali dengan mesin jenis sport yang biasanya punya mesin 3-4 silinder, akan tetapi mesin jenis Turing yang biasanya memang berjumlah silinder sedikit karena lebih mementingkan Torsi dibanding kan Power . . Oleh Karena Itu BMW 1200 RS ni dilengkap dengan mesin yang identuk dengan mesin penjelajan R 1200 GS, R1200 RT dan R 1200 R
Yap mesin Twin flat Boxer DOHC yang memperoduksi power maksimum di angka 92 kW (125 hp) @ 7,750 rpm dan torsi Maksimum di angka 125 Nm (92 lb‑ft) @ 6,500 rpm. Bila bro sekalan membandingkannya dengan series GS, GS Adventure dan RT, Maka Torsi R1200RS ini agak diupgrade di Lengkingan / RPM mesin rendah . . . Namanya Motor Sport touring walaupund dari depan sekilas mirip dengan tampang superbike S1000RR . .. namun secara ergonomi memang sport touring banget dengan setang tinggi . . . pas buat touring
